Every year in France, 80,000 diabetic patients develop a foot ulcer, a complication that can be avoided in the majority of cases if detected early. However, prevention tools remain inadequate: unreliable visual inspections, discontinuous podiatry follow-up, lack of daily monitoring.

This white paper, published by Solsius, a French MedTech founded in 2023, provides a comprehensive overview of this public health issue.

It sets out the clinical issues surrounding foot ulcers, the limitations of traditional approaches and the science behind plantar thermomonitoring: a clinically validated solution recommended by the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF).

This white paper then presents the CE-marked Solsius SelfCare medical device, comprising a connected insole and a mobile application, designed to become part of the patient's daily life and detect the first signs of ulceration before any visible lesions.

It is a reference document for healthcare professionals, decision-makers and MedTech players wishing to understand the challenges of the diabetic foot and the innovative solutions available today.
